Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. – “Swan Lake Act II & Other Works features classical ballet “Swan Lake Act II” and contemporary ballet “Messin’ With Mozart” on Saturday, Oct. 24 and Sunday, Oct. 25 at the Eissey Campus Theatre at Palm Beach State College in Palm Beach Gardens. Tickets begin at $17 and can be purchased online at balletpalmbeach.org or by calling the Eissey Campus Theatre box office at 561.207.5900.

“This performance is all about contrasts. ‘Swan Lake Act II’ is a classical ballet costumed with beautiful white tutus. ‘Messin’ With Mozart’ is a contemporary piece costumed in black,” said artistic director Colleen Smith.

The program features Act II of Tchaikovsky’s first ballet, “Swan Lake” choreographed by Ivanov. Considered one of the greatest classical ballets, audiences will be mesmerized by the romance and beauty as a prince discovers a swan that turns into a beautiful woman. The maiden is under a spell by an evil sorcerer. By day she lives as a swan swimming in a pool of tears. At night she is allowed to be human again. Only true love can break the spell.

Ballet Palm Beach then brings a new choreographic voice to its stage with “Messin’ With Mozart”, choreographed by Roger Van Fleteren. Van Fleteren, a former American Ballet Theatre soloist and principal dancer with the London City Ballet, currently resides as associate artistic director and resident choreographer at Alabama Ballet.
