Ballet Palm Beach’s 14th Season Kicks-off with “Flash Ballet”
and Includes Classics, Innovations, and Community Outreach

Palm Beach Gardens, FL – Ballet Palm Beach celebrates its 14th season with classical and innovative works including Giselle, The Nutcracker, Simple Symphony and Other Works, and Wonderland. “Our season is exciting!  Ballet Palm Beach will entertain and inspire by showcasing classic full-length ballets as well as new and original works.” said Artistic Director Colleen Smith.

The dancers will kick-off the season in September with “Flash Ballet” where they will dance flash mob style in public locations throughout Palm Beach County.  “Flash Ballet brings ballet to our community in a fun and fresh way.” said Smith.   It is also part of the ballet company’s community outreach program and mission of enriching the community with the beauty of ballet.

Ballet Palm Beach will open its season Friday, October 24th and Sunday, October 26th with the romantic masterpiece, Giselle.  Haunting and poetic, the ballet tells the story of a young peasant girl who falls in love with a prince and the heartbreak and sorrow that follow.  Through stunning classical dance and music by Adolphe Adam, Giselle offers the promise of young love and the tragedy of it slipping away.

Ballet Palm Beach dances into the holiday season on Thanksgiving weekend with the company’s tradition of The Nutcracker.  Underscored by Tchaikovsky’s magical music, the beloved ballet tells a story of a little girl named Clara who receives a gift of a Nutcracker on Christmas Eve.  From treacherous mice, a blustery snowstorm, to the Land of the Sweets, The Nutcracker is the perfect way to ring in the holiday season and introduce children to the beauty of ballet.

The season heats up with a burst of new and original works with Simple Symphony & Other Works.  Ballet Palm Beach performs this mixed repertoire program with music by Benjamin Britten on February 27 -28, 2015.

For the season finale, Ballet Palm Beach brings Wonderland, a new work with a fresh interpretation of Lewis Carroll’s classic story of Alice In Wonderland.   On April 10 – 11, 2015 Director Colleen Smith contrasts Victorian reality with the fantasy of Wonderland using the music of three English composers, Britten, Holst, and Walton. The music weaves the action of Alice, the White Rabbit and a myriad of characters through an intriguing, whimsical and often funny journey.
