Ballet Palm Beach celebrates its 15th season with audience favorites and classics including Swan Lake Act II & Other Works, The Nutcracker, Gatsby, and Cinderella. The company is excited to entertain and inspire by showcasing the full-length classical ballets as well as new and original works with the addition of nine new dancers. “We open the season with an expanded base of international dancers. This diversity will bring freshness to classics like Swan Lake Act II, The Nutcracker and Cinderella and an electricity to the stage for our premiere of Gatsby,” says Artistic Director Colleen Smith. “Our dancers are excited to entertain and inspire our audiences!” Season tickets are available through October 25, 2015 at balletpalmbeach.org and provide patrons the best seats at a discounted price.  Click here for season tickets.

The season opens with Swan Lake Act II & Other Works, on Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25 with a unique mixed bill that includes Act II of Tchaikovsky’s first ballet, Swan Lake. Considered one of the greatest classical ballets, audiences will be mesmerized by the romance and beauty as a prince discovers a swan that turns into a beautiful woman. The maiden is under a spell by an evil sorcerer. By day she lives as a swan swimming in a pool of tears. At night she is allowed to be human again. Only true love can break the spell. In addition to Swan Lake Act II, the company will entertain audiences with other original works.

Ballet Palm Beach then dances into the holiday season on Thanksgiving weekend with the company’s tradition of The Nutcracker. Underscored by Tchaikovsky’s magical music, the beloved ballet tells a story of a little girl named Clara who receives a gift of a Nutcracker on Christmas Eve. From treacherous mice, a blustery snowstorm, to the Land of the Sweets, The Nutcracker is the perfect way to ring in the holiday season for the whole family.

The season heats up as Ballet Palm Beach brings the story of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s masterpiece, The Great Gatsby, to the stage Saturday, March 19 and Sunday, March 20. The ballet, Gatsby, is a new work for Artistic Director Colleen Smith. Gatsby will highlight the lavishness of the roaring 20’s and the love of Gatsby for the beautiful Daisy.

On Mother’s Day weekend, Ballet Palm Beach performs the classic rags to riches love story of Cinderella. Underscored by Sergei Prokofiev, audiences of all ages will enjoy the hilarious antics of the ugly stepsisters, the magic of the Fairy Godmother and the radiant Cinderella as she is discovered by her prince charming at the Royal Ball.
