“I’m thrilled to be opening our Palm Beach season with such a diverse mixed bill.” says Ballet Palm Beach Artistic Director, Colleen Smith. “There is truly something here for everyone!”

Snow White is an original work by Ballet Palm Beach’s Artistic Director, Colleen Smith, which premiered in October 2016. A beautiful, exiled princess finds refuge with an unlikely band of heroes. Meanwhile, a jealous queen plots. This fantastical ballet adaption of Grimm’s fairy tale will intrigue audiences of all ages.

In addition, Ballet Palm Beach is honored to perform Balanchine’s charming Who Cares?. “This work portrays an exuberance that is both broadly American and charged with the distinctive energy of Manhattan.” (George Balanchine Trust). Guest Principal Dancer, Joseph Gatti, former Principal Dancer at Corella Ballet in Spain and Cincinnati Ballet and currently a highly-acclaimed Guest Principal Dancer with Orlando Ballet, will perform with the rest of the company. This will be the second time Ballet Palm Beach has performed a Balanchine work. Philip Neal, former Principal Dancer with New York City Ballet, will set the work on the dancers.

Also on the bill isSimple Symphony, an invigorating group piecethat embodies the musical dynamics of Benjamin Britten’s magnificent score. “This is dedicated to our ballet mistress Claudia Cravey. Claudia has shared her wealth of experience touching the lives of so many dancers throughout the world.  She has been instrumental in the growth of our dancers and has clearly impacted how the company looks as a whole.” says Artistic Director Colleen Smith.

This multi-work performance offers something for everyone; a cheeky and playful Balanchine classic (Who Cares?), a spirited showcase (Simple Symphony), and a cinematic fairy tale (Snow White).
